Awesome J.W. ! Love the Northern Lights in the background and your combination of Austrian Crystals and Interference Colours is most intriguing ! The entire combination of media and your wonderful talent are in full display !!

J W Baker replied:

You should have seen the painting in person - as you moved to view it from different angles, the stars twinkled and the colors in the Northern Lights shift from blue to green

J.W. , A fine painting ! I especially like the background, and sky. I have thought about using minerals and crystals on paintings, but have not done it yet. Think it's great your using different materials !

J W Baker replied:

Thank you Brian - the stars are Austrian Crystals which sparkle when viewed firsthand but alas not so in photographs. The Northern Lights shimmer blue/green as a result of the Interference Colors which have a blue/green shift depending upon ones viewing point - all motion of color makes that particular night sky magical!

Art is a story and painting is my way of telling the story. Art is the most profound means of storytelling - a single painting can speak personally to as many people who view it - it has the ability to communicate exactly what the Viewer needs whether it be inspiration, introspection or the simple joy of looking upon something pleasing to the eye. We share our stories with others to communicate, to form connections and show our capacity for empathy and good will - every story carries within it a part of the author of that story as an assurance of their sincerity in the effort - every story has meaning, and the stories told with art allow the Viewer to create their own meaning in addition to that which inspired the Artist to create...
